My Girl's CreamDate: May 2010
Involvement: Migration of a site from static HTML to CMS; conversion to modern, fluid-width layout
Description: In spring 2010 I was hired by Theresa Keresztes, the owner of My Girl’s Cream, a small business that sells a product for very dry skin. Theresa had a static HTML site which she wanted to be able to update more easily. In looking at the code, it occurred to me that this was also an opportunity to modernize the site and play with CSS media queries and fluid-width layouts. The result is a site which adapts readily to different viewport sizes–an important factor in mobile browsing, which is becoming increasingly prominent.

Technologies: HTML, CSS, Joomla!

  • Longshore Act
  • Recreational Boating

Eternal Pose

Posted: February 10th, 2010 | Author: Lise | Filed under: Portfolio, Web Development, Websites | Tags: , , , , , , | Comments Off

Eternal PoseDate: Circa 2003
Involvement: Design, development, and content creation.
Description: The anime/manga series One Piece is the basis for this web site. My goal was to create a definitive image archive for the series, since at the time the series was unreleased in the U.S. and high-quality images were hard to come by. An “eternal pose” is a special kind of compass in the series; and the design is based around the image of one. I’m quite proud of my work on this site, including a PHP script I wrote to query a subset of images; alas, it never became fully operational.
Technologies: HTML, CSS, PHP (to retrieve and display all images in a directory when a specific episode was queried)

Involvement: Design, development, and content creation.

Technologies: XHTML, CSS, PHP (header/footer; retrieve costume pages)

electric-monk.net

Posted: February 10th, 2010 | Author: Lise | Filed under: Portfolio, Web Development, Websites | Tags: , , , , , , , | Comments Off

electric-monk.netDate: Circa 2005
Involvement: Design, development, and content creation
Description: The domain name “electric-monk.net” was chosen after Douglas Adams’ Dirk Gently duology. The background of the page is a repeated image featuring “electric-monk.net” spelled out in binary-coded ASCII in grey on white. The banner image was made to create a cut-through effect to the background. The funky mid-century colors were chosen completely at random, but I’m rather fond of them. The index page leads to “gallery of the past” and an “about” page, as well as to other hosted sites, including other personal projects of mine.
Technologies: XHTML, CSS, PHP (header/footer)

I no longer maintain this site, but the design is still in use by the club’s current webmaster.

Kerrycoons Maine Coon cattery

Posted: February 10th, 2010 | Author: Lise | Filed under: Portfolio, Web Development, Websites | Tags: , , , , , , , | Comments Off

Date: Circa 2006; updated regularly by owner.
Involvement: Design and development
Description: This is one of my first commissioned sites, although the commission came from a friend, who needed a website for her Maine Coon cattery. The colors brown and green were chosen because a) McCloud, the Maine Coon showcased in the banner image, is a brown mackeral tabby pattern, and b) the cattery is named after County Kerry in Ireland.
Technologies: XTHML, CSS, PHP (header/footer)
